Times Of Waiting

Image

Like Jacob of old, I clung with soul-effort,
“I will not let you go, until you bless me.”
Then the One who called forth the stars
called my name.
You, born again child of God;
I called you from the valley and gave you increasing faith.
I led you to the mountaintop where I tested you
more than you could know.
I opened the eyes of your heart to see what I’ve
seen all along.
I watched for the bud of patience to bloom in your heart,
and praise to move upon your lips.
I waited for you to enter soul rest, where struggles
cease and joy returns.
I sent my word, so you would understand;
Times of waiting
are in the Father’s hands.

Blessed is the one who listens to me, watching daily at my gates.
waiting at my doorposts. Proverbs 8:34

Grace to Pray it Through

Image

I’ll pray it through, I’ll pray it through.

There’s nothing else that I can do.

I’ll pray it through, as Jesus did;

Three times I’ll pray to see it through.

I’ll ask if this cup can pass from me,

I’ll ask if it’s possible Lord, take it from me.

If you’re willing, let it pass from me.

Yet, not my will, but Your’s be done.

In all I say and all I do;

Lord give me grace to pray it through.

Waiting

Image

They say an eagle returns to
its nest when wounded. In this
safe place ofrest it lies on its
back with open wings,facing
the sun. When healing comes,
the mighty eagle rises up with
outstretched wings…free once
again to soar towards the heavens.

I once had the privilege of owning and operating a beauty shop in my home. My clients
often became good friends. We were sisters in community…wanting change on the
outside—needing to be valued and loved on the inside.

After seven wonderful and fulfilling years, all came to a halt. My doctor said I had Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. I had to close my business in order to get well.

My home became the sacred nest I needed during this interrupted season of my life. At the same time, I missed friends and acquaintances. Within weeks, solitude turned to loneliness
as I lost all sense of community.

Yet, in the days and months ahead I grew to love the solitude. I met God every day in my safe quiet place of rest. I pictured myself being held in the arms of Jesus as I waited for strength to return.

One of my favorite Bible promises became my meditation and prayer.

“Those who wait for the LORD will gain new strength; They will mount up with wings like eagles, They will run and not get tired, they will walk and not become weary.”
(Isaiah 40:31 NASB).

During my time of Bible study, I discovered four biblical principles I would love to share with you.

            1. To wait on the LORD does not necessarily refer to a set time—
but a heart attitude of trust set upon God. (Proverbs 3: 5, 6).

            2. To wait on the LORD suggests a strong expectant faith,
knowing God is able to help in times of need. (2 Corinthians 12:9).

            3. To wait on the LORD is to hope in God’s strength, not our own.
(Isaiah 40: 28.29)

            4. To wait on the LORD is to trust in the character of a loving God
who sent Jesus to redeem and restore that which was lost.
(Isaiah 43:1)

Are you wounded and weary from the hard curves life threw at you?
If so, run to Jesus! Wait in His presence and leave your wounds and weariness
behind. Rise up…refreshed and renewed with spirit wings like an eagle.

If I Could Take A Walk With You

If I could take a walk with you
I’d take your hand and pray,
That God would pour
Strong faith in you,
With each new passing day.
I’d pray your walk will reflect
The strong faith given you.
A faith that does not break down
But always sees you through.

If I could take a walk with you
I’d take your hand and pray,
That God would pour
strong hope in you
With each new passing day.
I’d pray for overcoming hope,
To strengthen, make you whole.
A hope both steadfast and sure,
The anchor of your soul.

If I could take a walk with you,
I’d take your hand and pray;
That God would pour
His love in you
With each new passing day.
I’d pray for over flowing joy,
That comes from deep within.
Joy that comes in the morning,
As each new day begins.
