Sweet Escape

August 2 -2013 100_2150

When my heart begins to fret
and my tears I can’t forget,
I run to you…in sweet escape,
and dare to look upon your face.

When my heart begins to trust
I recall I’m made from dust,
lean on you in sweet embrace,
find your mercy, love, and grace.

When my heart begins to sing
and my soul brings offer-ing,
Heaven’s song of sweetest praise,
fills my nights and all my days.

When temptation comes; God will provide the way of escape, so that you
will be able to endure it.
Hebrews 10:13

Happy Birthday Davy

Davy,pic
When I’m down and feeling blue,

I’ll take a memory of you…
and let it dance inside my mind,
to lift and lighten sadness there,
with memories and love so rare.
(written by Cathy Chandler)

It is never easy to lose someone you love.
The pain of separation that death brings is real. Sometimes tears
fall when you least expect it. Yet the hope of seeing our loved ones again,
fills our hearts with gratitude for the gift they were to each of us while
they were here on earth.

How true this is of our brother. Davy was born with a severely deformed
heart and not expected to live past 6 months old. But God had a different
plan. By his grace, Davy survived 4 open heart surgeries and lived to be
forty-five years old before he was taken to heaven.  Today is his birthday.

 Happy Birthday, Davy!

Our family and friends still celebrate the precious memories we have of you.

Davy
A child born, a wonder to man,
a wonder to medicine.
Experts in the medical field said,
“How can this be?”
A child born with a heart
that could not work.
But God said,
“You will see. You will see,
what I can do through man
to help my child grow up and reach
his full potential for me.
He will live one day at a time,
with the knowledge that
It is I who sustains him.

A blessing to his family and friends,
His life will be a testimony,
a miracle, and
encouragement to others.
This wonder of man will bring
Glory and Honor to me.”  -Carole Drew 2008

Just recently Dave and I had the joy of spending time
with my sisters and brother and their families.
Seems like every time we get together there is always a
special dessert that brings back the memories of Davy.
Jean was the faithful sister that always made his favorite
dessert.

Davy’s  Strawberry Salad-
(Jean Bryars)

1ST LAYER
2 cups crushed pretzels
½ to ¾ cup brown sugar
½ c. butter

Press in 9/13 pan and bake at
250 degrees 15-18 min. Cool.

2ND LAYER
(2) Large cream cheese (softened)
3 cups cool whip
Mix well in blender.
Spread evenly over cooled crust.

3RD LAYER
2 cups water
1 large sugar free jello, plus 1 T.
1 large bag frozen strawberries
1 large bag sliced frozen strawberries

Boil the water. Remove from heat and stir in strawberry jello until
dissolved. Add frozen strawberries to the hot water, stirring and
working berries into hot mixture. After mixing and well thickened,
pour over the cream cheese mixture. Yum!  Enjoy!

Thank you Heavenly Father for the hope of seeing our loved ones
when we join them in heaven some day.

How do you keep the memories of your loved ones alive?
