Come and Heal

pink rose with due
Weary and worn out from my journey
I sat down one day to pray.
And
the Master who knew my heartache,
placed his hand on my head and prayed.
He prayed, Father, this is your daughter.
Come and heal her soul today.
Pour your oil upon her heartache,
and wipe all her tears away.
Don’t you know how much I love you?
Can’t you see I died for you?
And dear child if you love me,
take my hand and trust and obey.

Come to me when you’re weary and I will give you rest. Mathew 11:28

Waiting

Image

They say an eagle returns to
its nest when wounded. In this
safe place ofrest it lies on its
back with open wings,facing
the sun. When healing comes,
the mighty eagle rises up with
outstretched wings…free once
again to soar towards the heavens.

I once had the privilege of owning and operating a beauty shop in my home. My clients
often became good friends. We were sisters in community…wanting change on the
outside—needing to be valued and loved on the inside.

After seven wonderful and fulfilling years, all came to a halt. My doctor said I had Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. I had to close my business in order to get well.

My home became the sacred nest I needed during this interrupted season of my life. At the same time, I missed friends and acquaintances. Within weeks, solitude turned to loneliness
as I lost all sense of community.

Yet, in the days and months ahead I grew to love the solitude. I met God every day in my safe quiet place of rest. I pictured myself being held in the arms of Jesus as I waited for strength to return.

One of my favorite Bible promises became my meditation and prayer.

“Those who wait for the LORD will gain new strength; They will mount up with wings like eagles, They will run and not get tired, they will walk and not become weary.”
(Isaiah 40:31 NASB).

During my time of Bible study, I discovered four biblical principles I would love to share with you.

            1. To wait on the LORD does not necessarily refer to a set time—
but a heart attitude of trust set upon God. (Proverbs 3: 5, 6).

            2. To wait on the LORD suggests a strong expectant faith,
knowing God is able to help in times of need. (2 Corinthians 12:9).

            3. To wait on the LORD is to hope in God’s strength, not our own.
(Isaiah 40: 28.29)

            4. To wait on the LORD is to trust in the character of a loving God
who sent Jesus to redeem and restore that which was lost.
(Isaiah 43:1)

Are you wounded and weary from the hard curves life threw at you?
If so, run to Jesus! Wait in His presence and leave your wounds and weariness
behind. Rise up…refreshed and renewed with spirit wings like an eagle.

Marriage Markers

How did we get here so fast? Seems like just yesterday we took those vows, praying they would last a lifetime. Dave and I gratefully reached a milestone this month. Forty-eight years of marriage.

We drove  just a few miles south to beautiful Tygart Lake Lodge near Grafton WV, to celebrate this momentous event.

The view from our room was both quiet and spectacular—showcasing both sunrise and sunset, over the beautiful lake nestled between the Appalachian Mountains.

How could I not capture this silent beauty with photo and penned words on paper?

Silent voice of morning
Brushing, blending colors
Shading, enhancing, reflecting,
Proclaiming—  I Am Creator God

 Silent voice of creation
Awakening, transforming, shouting,
Open your eyes, your heart, your mouth,
Praise Me— I AM Creator God

Silent voice of Maker
Speaking to hearts looking up
Refreshing, restoring, recreating,
Praising— Joy of Creator God

Dave and I did come home refreshed and rejoicing; after taking time to remember the years God has given us. We dare not boast in ourselves however.  We are still a work in progress and grateful for the three cord strand of love that holds us together!

We do boast in a perfect Heavenly Father; who loves us perfectly and continues to teach us how to love one another. We give God the Glory. We want our lives to reflect His story.

Then the LORD God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper who is just right for him.” (Genesis 2:18 NLT).
